As we approach the holiday season, our thoughts most likely turn to gifts….gifts given and gifts received. This holiday season the HMBC deacons would like to challenge you. Not to a dual, but to give freely to the ministries of HMBC. This holiday season the deacons have opted instead of a catered holiday meal at a local establishment to have a intimate holiday party at the home of one of the deacons. The money that would normally be spent on the meal will donate to the HMBC budget. The deacons challenge you this holiday season to give freely and generously to the HMBC budget. Instead of another tacky tie for Uncle Ralph, make donation to the church in his honor. When you purchase a poinsettia for the church, donate the exact same amount to HMBC. the possibilities are endless, so take the Christmas Challenge this holiday season!

The Deacon Ministry exists to serve the spiritual and physical needs of the HMBC congregation as well as our local community. The deacons are divided into ministry teams which serve to help the deacons carry out the role as servant leaders. Each team is headed by a deacon who in turn recruits other HMBC congregation member to serve. Our Deacon Ministry teams and their duties are:

Benevolence - The Benevolence Team Ministry is responsible for responding to requests for financial assistance from both members and friends of the church, and from persons who are not regularly associated with the church.

Bereavement – The Bereavement Team Ministry will provide a ministry of concern and support to church members who have experienced the death of a family member.

Homebound – The Homebound Team Ministry will provide a ministry of concern and support to both church members and friends who are no longer physically able to attend church services.

Hospital – The Hospital Team Ministry is responsible for providing a pastoral care ministry to church members and friends in the hospital when there is a known need in the fellowship.

Missions – The Missions Team Ministry will promote, educate, coordinate, and involve the church membership in missions through cooperation with local, regional, state, national, and global organizations.

New Members - The purpose of the New Members Team Ministry is to integrate new church members completely into the life of the church.

First Impressions – The purpose of the First Impressions Team Ministry is to make guests of our church feel welcome and provide a small gift bag of information about our church.

Worship Support – The Worship Support Team Ministry is responsible for supporting, and strengthening worship services. The team will coordinate with the pastor and others as appropriate to ensure that services flow smoothly, coordinate special services and recognitions, and ordinances of the church.
